Getting Started

This guide walks you through your first steps inside TaxConnect — creating an account, understanding user roles, activating your trial, and setting up organizations. It covers everything an account owner or company administrator needs to get started.

Sign up and create your account

To begin, head over to the TaxConnect registration page and fill out the sign-up form. Here is the process step by step:

  1. Navigate to app.taxconnect.pk/register.
  2. Enter your full name, work email address, company name, and phone number.
  3. Choose a strong password and confirm it.
  4. Accept the terms of service and submit the form.

Once you submit, TaxConnect automatically creates your company profile and assigns you the Company admin role. You do not need to set up billing or invite anyone right away — you can explore the platform with your trial license first.

Note: Use a real email address — you will receive important updates about your trial expiry, invoice submissions, and FBR compliance notifications there.

Understand user roles

TaxConnect has two built-in roles that determine what a person can see and do inside the application. There is no custom role builder — you assign one of these two roles when inviting a colleague.

Company admin

Company admins have full access to every feature. As an admin you can:

  • Manage users — invite new team members, change their roles, and remove them.
  • Create and manage organizations (the tenants that hold invoice data).
  • Connect accounting providers (Xero, QuickBooks) and manage OAuth tokens.
  • Configure tenant-level settings, including company information and tax profiles.
  • Set up FBR IRIS tokens for sandbox and production environments.
  • Create and edit tax mappings that link accounting tax rates to FBR scenarios.

The person who registers the company is automatically a Company admin. There must always be at least one admin on the account.

Company user

Company users have restricted access. A user can:

  • View and work inside the organizations they have been assigned to.
  • Import invoices, run validations, and submit to FBR within their assigned organizations.
  • Edit their own profile (name, email, password).

Company users cannot manage other users, create or delete organizations, connect or disconnect accounting providers, or modify tax mappings. This separation ensures that administrative changes stay in the hands of a few trusted people while your operational staff can work freely on invoices.

Your trial license

Every new company receives a 30-day trial license activated automatically at sign-up. No credit card is required to start.

Here is what the trial includes:

  • 2 organization slots. You can create up to two organizations (tenants) during the trial. Each organization acts as a separate data silo with its own invoice history, provider connection, and FBR configuration.
  • Free sandbox submissions. All invoices you submit to the FBR sandbox environment during the trial are free of charge. This lets you test your full workflow — from import to validation to submission — without worrying about costs.
  • No production submissions. Live invoice submission to the FBR production API is disabled until you add a valid production license. You can still configure production tokens during the trial so everything is ready to go when you upgrade.

Need more time? Contact sales@countonus.services before your trial expires. Extensions can be arranged on a case-by-case basis.

Organizations page

The Organizations page is where you manage the tenants in your account. Every organization corresponds to one data source — either a connected accounting provider (Xero or QuickBooks) or a CSV-based tenant for manual import.

Here is how organizations work in practice:

Adding an organization

Click Add Organization and choose a name for your tenant. This creates a new CSV/Excel tenant by default — it is a blank container with no provider attached. You can later connect Xero or QuickBooks to it from the Connections page.

Active vs sandbox-only

Organizations can be in one of two states:

  • Active — The organization is enabled for both sandbox testing and live production submission.
  • Sandbox-only — Submission is restricted to the FBR sandbox environment. Use this for testing and validation before going live.

Activation and deactivation

You can activate or deactivate an organization at any time from the organizations list. Deactivation is immediate and prevents any further submissions — useful if you are migrating data between tenants or need to pause operations.

TaxConnect also supports scheduled deactivation. When you set a deactivation date, the system automatically moves the organization to inactive on that date. This is helpful for managing contractors, seasonal operations, or sunsetting old tenants.

License slot tracking

The top of the organizations page shows your license usage: X of Y organization slots used. Each active organization consumes one slot. Sandbox-only organizations also count toward this limit. If you need more slots, you can upgrade your license from the Billing page.

When you deactivate an organization, its slot is freed up immediately, letting you create a new one without upgrading.
